Sooo...What's up with your Skin Though?!

Often times people are more concerned with makeup and covering up the issue rather than dealing with it. Well, let me be your skin therapist and let’s talk about it. Get it all it!!

Let’s talk about build up. Build up comes from layers of products that aren’t being deep cleansed from your pores. These products include, moisturizers, natural oils, primers and makeup. Oh, and not to mention the environment. Yes, I said the environment.

Everyday that you step outside your house, the impurities in the air are absorbing into your skin. Your pores are open because of your sweat and all the dirt in the air goes right in. Just the thought of it discusses me. So, how do you fix it?

Well, unfortunately, build up can’t be prevented, but it can be removed. A good facial cleanser that is gentle on the skin is a start. Accompanying the cleanser with a facial cleansing tool, such as a Clarisonic, or using a gentle exfoliate will unclog the pores. I recommend exfoliating at the end of the day and only 1-2 times a week. Over exfoliating can strip your skin of its natural oils and cause breakouts. The Clarisonic can be used twice a day because of how gentle it cleanses.

Using a detoxifying cleanser and/or facial mask is good too. Products that contain charcoal are detoxifiers. Charcoal also helps to minimize pores and control oil. Using a mask at least 1-2 times a week gives your skin that extra love it doesn’t get from your cleanser.

Always follow your cleanse with a moisturizer. If you’re oily, choose a water based moisturizer and if you’re dry, a cream based moisturizer. To my oily folks out there, yes YOU, don’t skip this step! If you don’t moisturize, your skin produces excess oil because it’s over compensating for not having any moisture in the first place.

Let me clarify something, a body lotion or lotion of any sort, is NOT a moisturizer. The ingredients are way too heavy and are not made for your face. Be sure to purchase a facial moisturizer that’s conducive to your skin type.

Following these simple steps and regime will impact your overall finish to your makeup. It’ll even contribute to the longevity of your makeup on a day-to-day basis. You can even put down the expensive makeup brands yet achieve the same flawless looks because your skin is flawless and healthy underneath.

That’s it for now folks. When you know better, you do better, DO BETTA GO GETTA!
